Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Georgi Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timofey Vlasov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Georgi Petrov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Georgi Petrov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Timofey Vlasov!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vlasov shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Petrov eats them both and turns towards Vlasov to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Petrov looks to clinch
and Vlasov counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Vlasov is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Vlasov throws a right hand that Petrov ducks under and follows up with a left that Petrov also avoids with ease.
Vlasov misses with a few strikes there.
Vlasov checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Vlasov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Petrov throws the kick towards the body but Vlasov avoids it.

Petrov gets caught napping as Vlasov dives in and scores a takedown. Petrov manages to retain guard.
Vlasov trying to control the position from guard on top but Petrov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Petrov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Petrov is adopting a defensive guard.
Petrov tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Vlasov looking to pass the guard.

Vlasov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Petrov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vlasov has managed to get both his arms back between Petrov's legs - danger averted.
Vlasov landing with the ground and pound.
Vlasov wants to pass the guard but Petrov is keeping the position.
Vlasov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Petrov works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Petrov preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Petrov striking off his back but it's not causing Vlasov any problems.
Petrov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vlasov on the ground.
Vlasov stops Petrov from standing up.
Vlasov lands a couple of elbows.
Petrov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Vlasov trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Petrov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Petrov tries to get out of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vlasov content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Vlasov wants to control from the top but Petrov keeps moving.
Petrov looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Petrov trying to keep a closed guard but Vlasov is proving a slippery customer.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Vlasov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Vlasov is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Vlasov content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Petrov wants to stand up but Vlasov is controlling him.

Vlasov drops back looking for a leg! Petrov is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Petrov manages to kick Vlasov off! Vlasov jumps back into Petrov's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vlasov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Petrov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vlasov defends well.
Vlasov is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Vlasov lands a couple of elbows.
Vlasov passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Vlasov is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Petrov has escaped the position, nice work there.
Vlasov cracks Petrov with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Vlasov working the ground and pound.
Vlasov working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Petrov managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Vlasov.
Petrov tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Vlasov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Petrov is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Vlasov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Petrov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Petrov tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Vlasov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Vlasov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Petrov, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Vlasov trying to control the action but Petrov is working from the bottom.
Vlasov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Petrov takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Timofey Vlasov dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Vlasov circles away from the clinch attempt.
Vlasov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Petrov circles away quickly and effectively.
Petrov dives in and grabs Vlasov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vlasov pushes down on Petrov's head and hops out.
Horrible takedown by Petrov or perhaps it was just good defense by Vlasov which made him look bad.
Vlasov changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Petrov is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Petrov crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Vlasov - the referee stops the clock and Petrov gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Vlasov. Petrov manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Vlasov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Vlasov shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Petrov trying to hold on to Vlasov's head to control him but Vlasov postures up.
Vlasov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Vlasov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Vlasov is trying to work for a kimura but Petrov is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vlasov works his way into full mount!

Vlasov throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Petrov has his hands clasped together but Vlasov breaks the hold and Petrov is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Vlasov!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Timofey Vlasov!
Timofey Vlasov decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
