Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juan Dela Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Rizal!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dela Cruz slaps away a takedown attempt from Rizal, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dela Cruz misses with the combination.
A lazy left from Dela Cruz finds it's target.


It looks like Jose Rizal has been cut.
Dela Cruz swats away the attempt to clinch by Rizal.
Rizal tries for a takedown but Dela Cruz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Dela Cruz closes the distance and clinches.
Dela Cruz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rizal is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Dela Cruz to keep the fight standing.
Juan Dela Cruz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Rizal.
Rizal wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dela Cruz has him pressed against the cage.
Rizal is looking to take this one to the mat.

Dela Cruz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rizal shoots in for a takedown but Dela Cruz shows good takedown defense.

and Rizal decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dela Cruz's guard.

Rizal stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dela Cruz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dela Cruz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rizal is controlling him.

Rizal postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rizal pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dela Cruz is keeping the position for now.
Rizal slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Rizal looking to sit in guard and control but Dela Cruz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rizal not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Rizal is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dela Cruz defends well.
Dela Cruz wants to get up but he can't break Rizal's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rizal is looking for a triangle but Dela Cruz pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rizal pulls Dela Cruz in close to his closed guard and prevents Dela Cruz from doing any damage or advancing position.

Dela Cruz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Dela Cruz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rizal shoots in for a double leg but Dela Cruz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Dela Cruz keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Rizal's efforts to push away.

Rizal tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Dela Cruz just stands there and leans against the cage.
Rizal tries to pull guard but Dela Cruz forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rizal jumps guard but Dela Cruz turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Rizal is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Dela Cruz to keep the fight standing.
Rizal wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rizal fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Dela Cruz breaks from the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jose Rizal dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jose Rizal's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Rizal drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rizal throws an elbow that misses. Dela Cruz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rizal's guard. Nice move by Dela Cruz!
Rizal wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Rizal escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dela Cruz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Rizal has a closed guard, preventing Dela Cruz from standing up.
Rizal is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rizal looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Rizal trying to control the action but Dela Cruz is working from the bottom.

Rizal tries to pass to full mount but Dela Cruz defends it.
Rizal is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rizal prevents Dela Cruz from standing back up.

Rizal is looking to take a break and control but Dela Cruz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rizal works his foot free and advances to mount.
Rizal misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Rizal thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Rizal has hold of Dela Cruz's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dela Cruz manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Rizal landing strikes from the mount and Dela Cruz is in trouble!

Rizal thowing shots but they're missing.

Rizal with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Dela Cruz defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Rizal.
Dela Cruz takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Rizal scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Dela Cruz?

Rizal in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.


Dela Cruz is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dela Cruz is bucking up trying to escape but Rizal cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Oh Dela Cruz is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dela Cruz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rizal on the ground.
Rizal controlling the pace for now.

Dela Cruz is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Rizal locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Dela Cruz is forced to tap!
