PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bernard Bruce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sho Fukamachi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fukamachi has chosen Guyver: The Bio-Boosted Armor as his entrance music. Sho Fukamachi has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Bernard Bruce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sho Fukamachi!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fukamachi misses with a head kick.
Fukamachi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bruce's waist but Bruce gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fukamachi off to one side.
Bruce misses with a head kick.
A decent looking cross lands there for Bruce.
Bruce tries to clinch there but Fukamachi circles away.
Fukamachi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bruce's waist but Bruce gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fukamachi off to one side.
Fukamachi misses the shot to the body.
Nice cross by Fukamachi.
Bruce scores with a decent looking hook.
Fukamachi looks for a takedown but Bruce sprawls well.
Bernard Bruce has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sho Fukamachi.
Horrible takedown by Bruce or perhaps it was just good defense by Fukamachi which made him look bad.
Fukamachi misses with a body kick.

Bruce bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fukamachi gets back to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fukamachi is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Bruce pulls his head out easily.
Fukamachi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bruce is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Fukamachi looking for submissions off his back.
Bruce sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Fukamachi defending well though.
Bruce wants to take a breather but Fukamachi is having none of it.
Bruce not doing much here.
Fukamachi moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Fukamachi throws his legs up looking for a submission but Bruce uses it to pass to side control.
Fukamachi looks gassed!
Fukamachi wants to control but Bruce postures up.

Bruce lands some shots froms side control.
Bruce controlling the position from side mount.
Fukamachi tries to improve position but can't.
Bruce controlling from side mount.
Fukamachi is not content to let Bruce control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Fukamachi being controlled for a moment.
Bruce knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fukamachi on the ground.
Fukamachi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bruce wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Fukamachi takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Bruce landing strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fukamachi tries to improve position but can't.
Fukamachi is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Bruce off and has taken his back!

Fukamachi is looking for the choke from the back position but Bruce is controlling his hands well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bernard Bruce dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bruce tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fukamachi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Fukamachi jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Bruce gets a clinch.

Bruce breaks the clinch.
Bruce is looking to clinch.
Fukamachi doesn't manage to clinch there - Bruce circles away.
Bruce blocks the body kick.

Bruce closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bruce lands in his opponent's guard.
Fukamachi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Bruce takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
Bruce trying to control but Fukamachi is working from the bottom.

Bruce distracts Fukamachi with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Fukamachi throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Bruce won't allow Fukamachi to sweep him here.
Bruce trying to control the position from guard on top but Fukamachi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Bruce misses with a takedown

and Fukamachi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bruce won't be happy with that.
Fukamachi lands an elbow.
Bruce tries to bench press Fukamachi off him but Fukamachi keeps the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fukamachi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bruce is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Fukamachi swings around for an armbar but Bruce sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Fukamachi's guard.
Bruce has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Fukamachi wants to sweep but no luck.
Fukamachi striking off his back but it's not causing Bruce any problems.
Bruce won't allow Fukamachi to sweep him here.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fukamachi is on top in guard.
Fukamachi throws and elbow that misses. Bruce uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fukamachi's guard. Nice move by Bruce!

Fukamachi has an active guard here but Bruce has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fukamachi has hold of Bruce's hands but Bruce slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Fukamachi tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Bruce trying to control from half guard but Fukamachi is working away.
Fukamachi blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bruce.
Fukamachi wants to control but Bruce is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Fukamachi is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Bruce is staying active.

Bruce wants to take a breather but Fukamachi is having none of it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

so Fukamachi counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Fukamachi lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Fukamachi advances position into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sho Fukamachi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Fukamachi has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bruce has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Fukamachi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Bruce wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Fukamachi works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Fukamachi won't allow Bruce to get back to his feet.
Bruce is trying to control the position but Fukamachi postures up.
Bruce looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fukamachi is one step ahead there.
Fukamachi makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Fukamachi scoring with punches to the head and body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bruce has momentary wrist control but Fukamachi slips an elbow through the middle.
Fukamachi lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Fukamachi with a nice head shot there.

Fukamachi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Bruce is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Fukamachi works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Bruce on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bruce tries to get out of the position.

Fukamachi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Bruce is looking for a sweep. Fukamachi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Fukamachi trying to pass the guard but Bruce defending well.
Fukamachi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fukamachi wants to advance to full mount but Bruce doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Bruce keeping moving, preventing Fukamachi from controlling successfully.
Bruce pulls Fukamachi in close to prevent any damage.

Fukamachi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bruce is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fukamachi, into his guard.
Bruce makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Fukamachi can't keep his opponent in guard - Bruce advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Bruce wants to pass to mount but Fukamachi is defending the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fukamachi gets full guard.
Bruce trying to control the position from guard on top but Fukamachi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Fukamachi is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Fukamachi trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Sho Fukamachi has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bruce is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Fukamachi has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Bruce is looking to defend but Fukamachi has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Bruce! Fukamachi pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Bruce taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Sho Fukamachi!
