Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ray Sims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Houston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Randy Houston has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Sims!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Randy Houston!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sims ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Houston moves away.
Sims fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Houston fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Houston has a takedown stuffed.
Houston checks a low kick from Sims.
Houston shoots in looking for a takedown. Sims tries to sprawl out of it but Houston keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sims manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ray Sims has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randy Houston.
Sims goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Houston drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sims not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Houston wants to pass the guard but Sims is keeping the position.
Houston looks gassed!
Sims with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Houston can't handle though.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sims is on top in guard.

Houston preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Sims pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Houston is keeping the position for now.

Houston is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sims forces his way into half guard.
Houston is not content to let Sims control the position.

Sims decides to return to a standing position.
Danga de danga de dang - Sims scores with a four punch combination!
Sims goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Sims tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Sims misses with the combination.
Sims feints and then cracks Houston's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Houston down.

Sims closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Houston to the mat! Houston manages to get full guard.
Houston is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sims sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Houston's guard.
Houston is not content to let Sims control the position.
Houston gets back to full guard.

Sims avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Houston bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sims's guard.
Houston throws a big right hand that misses.
Houston looking to pass the guard.
Houston trying to control but Sims is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Houston passes Sims's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Sims is looking to improve his position.
Houston is looking to take a break and control but Sims is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sims closes this distance looking for a takedown but Houston circles away.
Houston gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Sims decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Houston's guard.

Sims has gone for a leg lock! Houston slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sims's guard.
Sims is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sims working Houston over with strikes.
Houston is looking to control Sims's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Houston avoid being mounted?
Sims drops an elbow to the side of Houston's head.
Houston has hold of Sims's hands but Sims slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Sims looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Sims wants to pass to mount but Houston is defending the position.
Sims seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Houston does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Sims working over Houston with some ground and pound. Houston looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Sims slips a nice elbow through Houston's hands, connecting with Houston's forehead.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sims working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Sims passes the guard and advances to mount!

Sims misses with a series of wild punches.
Sims throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A head kick from Sims lands but Houston takes it in his stride.
Sims stuffs the takedown attempt from Houston. Houston gets slowly back to his feet.
Sims tries to bum rush Houston with a series of wild strikes but Houston uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Houston takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Sims scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Houston shoots in for a double leg but Sims sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Left hook, right uppercut from Sims.
Ray Sims seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Houston feints and as Sims raises his hands in defense, Houston changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Houston would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Sims tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sims lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Houston!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Houston keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Houston tries to hold on but Sims pushes him away.
Houston tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sims is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Houston can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Houston is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Houston can't escape the position.
Houston tries to lock up and control but Sims gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Houston gets back to half guard.
Sims looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Houston wants to control but Sims is keeping busy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sims missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Houston misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Sims wants to pass to mount but Houston is defending the position.
Sims scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Sims landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Sims prevents Houston from improving his position.

Sims decides to stand and escape the position.

Sims has Houston up against the cage in a clinch.

Houston takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Sims connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Houston's hands.
Sims misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sims will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Sims throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Sims drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sims with a nice head shot there.
Sims is working Houston over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Ray Sims overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Houston wants to sweep but no luck.
Sims stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Houston swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Sims!
Sims throws a shot to the body.
Sims misses with a two punch combination.

Sims instigates a clinch.

Sims lands with a thumping leg kick.
Ray Sims is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sims tries a head kick but it misses.
Sims cracks Houston with a good jab.

so Houston counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Houston bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Houston is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sims knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Sims manages to work his way to half guard, despite Houston's best efforts.
The fighters are battling for position here. Sims manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Sims has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Houston can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sims escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Houston gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sims can't keep his opponent in guard - Houston advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Sims gets back to full guard.

Sims had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Houston is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sims Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Houston's back instead.
Houston takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sims trying to control.

Sims is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Houston has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Sims scores with punches to the body.

Houston is trying to defend against the choke here but Sims has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Sims Tightens the hold and Houston taps out furiously! Sims displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ray Sims!
