Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pancha misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kosugi .

Pancha moves into range and clinches up with Kosugi .
Kosugi is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Pancha gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Kosugi drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pancha tries to circle away but Kosugi has him pinned against the cage.
Kosugi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pancha pulls his leg out and moves away.
Sancho Pancha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shoichi Kosugi .

Kosugi gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Pancha pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pancha dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Kosugi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Pancha gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Kosugi keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Pancha's efforts to push away.

Pancha's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Pancha takes a swing at Kosugi 's ribcage but misses.

Pancha throws a series of punches but Kosugi avoids them all with ease.

Kosugi tries for a takedown but Pancha manages to get underhooks.
Kosugi has Pancha pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pancha manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Kosugi breaks the clinch.
Pancha looks to land a combination. Kosugi sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pancha throws a head kick that misses.

Pancha shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kosugi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kosugi tries to buck Pancha off but Pancha is having none of it.

Pancha has hold of Kosugi 's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kosugi tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Pancha cranks the arm and Kosugi screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kosugi , who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Sancho Pancha!
Sancho Pancha took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
