Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nick Skerlik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Raymond Matice!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matice throws a hook but Skerlik blocks it.
Matice closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Skerlik is trying to stand.
Matice performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Matice looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Skerlik tries to kick Matice off but Matice keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Matice wants to free his trapped foot but Skerlik is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Skerlik tries to sprawl but Matice drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Matice is nestled in close to Skerlik, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Skerlik tries to kick Matice off but Matice keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Matice drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Matice slips nicely into half guard.
Matice looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Raymond Matice was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Matice leaves Skerlik with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Matice.
The referee asks Matice politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Matice prefers to stall for the moment though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Raymond Matice dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Matice shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Let's hope that Matice has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

A big strike lands for Matice! That's really hurt Skerlik and he's turned his back - Matice keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Matice jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
