The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammer doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Ali to counter with a crisp jab.
Ali takes a swing at Hammer's ribcage but misses.
Hammer misses with a takedown
and Ali cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hammer misses with a wild body shot.
Hammer doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ali counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ana Ali has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Smith Hammer.

Hammer thows a body shot but no joy.
Ali stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ali wants it to stay on the feet.
Hammer shoots for a takedown but Ali saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Ali loads up on a big right hand but Hammer slips the punch.

Ali throws a looping overhand right but Hammer ducks down to avoid it.

The fighters circling - Ali throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hammer has his takedown stuffed
and Ali counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Hammer is trying desperately to land a takedown but Ali is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Hammer.

and Ali counters with a right hand to the body.

Ali throws a jab when Hammer was well out of range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ana Ali dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Hammer doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ali counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ali tries to free his leg and advance position but Hammer is retaining full guard.
Ali working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hammer's head.
Ali avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hammer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ali defends it easily.
Ali throwing strikes from guard but Hammer blocks nicely.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hammer is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Ali rolls with it to try and escape but Hammer cranks on the arm and Ali is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
