PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pencil Neck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Raith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Neck might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Deep Purple - Bad Attitude. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 17 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pencil Neck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Thomas Raith!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksei Zolotukhin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Neck throws a head kick that Raith semi-blocks.

It looks like Thomas Raith has been cut.

Neck rushes Raith and presses him up against the cage.

Neck manages to pull guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Raith is looking to work some ground and pound but Neck has wrist control.
Neck trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Neck controls Raith momentarily but Raith frees himself.
Neck has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Raith trying to control but Neck is working from the bottom.
Neck wants to sweep here but Raith controlling him for the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Pencil Neck wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Neck tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Raith swivels and escapes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Neck looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Raith looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Neck lands strikes from half guard.
Neck is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Neck working over Raith with some ground and pound. Raith looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Neck slows the pace down in half guard.

Raith is trying to stand.
Neck content to control rather than advance.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Neck has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Raith tries to clinch but Neck is having none of it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Raith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Neck looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Neck gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Raith trying to work for an americana but Neck has managed to regain full guard.

Neck scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Thomas Raith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Raith takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Neck shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Neck trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Neck has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Raith is forced to tap!

A less than humble Pencil Neck misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
