Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vic Odin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes has chosen Hank Williams Jr. - Country Boy Can Survive as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vic Odin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Odin counters with a left and a right that stings Hughes.
Hughes moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Hughes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hughes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hughes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Odin sprawls well. Odin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hughes gets slowly back to his feet.
Vic Odin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Hughes.

Hughes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hughes working the strikes but Odin uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hughes seems to be looking for submissions.

Hughes is working for a kimura but Odin is defending it quite comfortably.
Hughes misses with a head shot. Odin uses the momentum to regain guard.

Hughes with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hughes is looking to advance position but Odin has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Odin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hughes is in all sorts of trouble here.

Odin controlling from mount.
Hughes is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Hughes tries to get back to half guard but can't.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hughes can do anything to dispel that myth.

Odin content just to control the position here.
Hughes is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Hughes regains half guard.
Still in half guard, Odin seems content to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Vic Odin just wasn't active enough.
Hughes tries to clinch but Odin moves out of range.
Odin jabs Hughes right on the nose. Hughes blinks but takes it well.

Odin pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Hughes back to the cage. Odin follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Hughes looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Odin pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Hughes back to the cage. Odin follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Matt Hughes has been cut.
Odin lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Hughes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Odin counters with a right hand to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hughes ducks right into an uppercut from Odin.
Hughes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Odin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vic Odin dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Matt Hughes's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Good exchange - Odin coming out on top.
Odin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Hughes walks into a left hand.
Odin scores with a hook.
Odin is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Hughes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Odin as he avoids it easily.
Hughes doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

and Odin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hughes takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Odin wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Hughes doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Odin counters with a crisp one two that drops Hughes! Odin thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Hughes to his feet! Hughes is in big trouble!


Hughes is rocked!
Vic Odin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Hughes.
Odin drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Hughes right on the button. Hughes goes down! Odin follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Odin gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vic Odin!
