Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jeffy Jefferson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Verson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jefferson comes to the cage accompanied by Fette's Vette. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeffy Jefferson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rodrigo Verson!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Verson shoots in for a takedown but Jefferson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Horrible takedown by Verson or perhaps it was just good defense by Jefferson which made him look bad.

Verson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jefferson lands a shoulder strike.

Jefferson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Verson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jefferson but Jefferson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jeffy Jefferson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodrigo Verson.
Jefferson is looking to clinch but Verson is avoiding it.

Verson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jefferson defends it nicely.

It looks like Rodrigo Verson has been cut.
Verson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Jefferson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Verson can't fight it off and eventually Jefferson manages to take the fight to the floor. Verson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Verson keeping moving, preventing Jefferson from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Verson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jefferson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Verson.

Jefferson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Jefferson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jefferson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Jefferson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Verson, who protects the arm well.
Verson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jefferson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Verson is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Verson gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Jefferson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Verson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jefferson lands a heavy elbow.
Verson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
A nice elbow there by Jefferson.
Jefferson landing punches.
Verson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jefferson cracks Verson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Jefferson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Verson is looking to escape.

Jefferson looking to secure an arm triangle but Verson defends it well.
Verson is wriggling around trying to escape.

Jefferson gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Verson misses with a takedown attempt - Jefferson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Verson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jefferson as he avoids it easily.
Verson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Jefferson counters with a three punch combo that has Verson backing up. Verson nods at Jefferson to acknowledge the strikes.
Verson looks gassed!

Some wild striking there from Jefferson.
Jefferson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Verson misses with a takedown
and Jefferson counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jefferson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Verson.

Jefferson has Verson up against the cage in a clinch.
Verson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Verson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jefferson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Jefferson pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jefferson lands a knee to the head.

Verson has clasped his hands together around Jefferson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Verson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Verson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Verson tries to keep at a distance but Jefferson has taken the fight into the clinch.
Jefferson landing knees to the head.
Verson has Jefferson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jefferson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Jefferson just leaning against Verson, taking a breather.
Jefferson misses with a knee to the head.
Verson goes for a takedown attempt but Jefferson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Verson tries to score a body lock takedown but Jefferson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Verson wants to work for an arm triangle but Jefferson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jeffy Jefferson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jefferson is pressing down on Verson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Jefferson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Verson is aware though and is defending well.

Verson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Verson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Verson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jefferson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Verson has managed to get both his arms back between Jefferson's legs - danger averted.

Jefferson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Verson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Verson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jefferson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Verson, into his guard.
Verson is breathing heavily.
Jefferson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Verson's guard.

Verson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jefferson is aware though and is defending well.
Jefferson cracks Verson with a solid left hand.
Verson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jefferson!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Jefferson has left one of his arms exposed and Verson doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Jefferson screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rodrigo Verson!
Rodrigo Verson decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
