And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Thomaz Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Taylor.
Taylor misses the jab.
Murphy misses with a jab, cross combination.
Murphy paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Murphy dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Taylor throws a leg kick but Murphy moved away.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Murphy.
Murphy takes a swing at Taylor's ribcage but misses.

Taylor takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Taylor smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Taylor walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Murphy checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Taylor finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Taylor looks to throw the jab but Murphy is out of range.
Taylor takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Taylor will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Murphy bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Taylor tries to work over Murphy's front leg with a kick but Murphy checks it.
Murphy on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Taylor fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Murphy has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

and Taylor counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Murphy is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Murphy uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Taylor has time to react.
Taylor connects with a leg kick. Murphy looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Murphy throws a hook to the side of Taylor's head but Taylor sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Murphy wants to slow Taylor down by chopping away at his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Thomaz Taylor will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Murphy lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
A solid leg kick lands there for Murphy.
Taylor moves forwards but Murphy connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Taylor attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Taylor takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Taylor throws a half hearted mid kick.

A looping hook to the body misses from Taylor. Murphy does a little dance to reset his feet.

Murphy connects with a right hand. Taylor shakes it off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Murphy catches Taylor with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Taylor forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). David Murphy!
David Murphy is the new bantamweight champion!
During a confident post fight interview, David Murphy thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
