Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Nikolai Walujew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Cristiano Couto!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Glass and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walujew misses with a few strikes there.
Couto misses with a two punch combination.
Couto shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Walujew counters with a three punch combo that has Couto backing up. Couto nods at Walujew to acknowledge the strikes.
Walujew scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
It looks like Cristiano Couto has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Walujew will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Couto fails with the takedown
and Walujew connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Walujew just misses with a punch to the body.
Walujew misses with a body shot.
Couto takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Walujew throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Couto wants to clinch.
Couto tries to clinch up but Walujew circles away and keeps his distance.
Walujew cracks Couto with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Couto looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Walujew finish him?
That has opened up Cristiano Couto's cut even more.
Couto shoots for a double leg takedown but Walujew sprawls well. He's pushed Couto's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nikolai Walujew has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cristiano Couto.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Couto tries to clinch up
and Walujew counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Couto thinking.
Walujew looks to land a combination. Couto sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Couto with a lazy takedown attempt
and Walujew counters with a left and a right... and another left... and another!! That last one turned off the lights! Couto has no idea who he is and is as he gazes up at the spotlights. Brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Nikolai Walujew!
