Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mathew Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and QL Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maynard comes to the cage accompanied by do it. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hicks closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Hicks postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Hicks wants to pass the guard but Maynard is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hicks is looking for submissions but instead, Maynard has regained full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Oooooh, big shot lands for Hicks! Maynard is hurt baaadly! Hicks is firing away with more strikes - Maynard is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

After the fight, QL Hicks was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
