Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alpha Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nycky Downtime (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alpha Dog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nycky Downtime!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downtime ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dog moves away.
Dog shoots in but Downtime avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A bone on bone clash there as Dog blocks the leg kick.
Downtime misses with a body shot.
Dog shoots in for a takedown but Downtime shows good takedown defense.

Dog gets the takedown into side control.

Dog swings around for an armbar but Downtime sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Dog's guard.

Downtime drops back looking for a leg! Dog is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dog manages to kick Downtime off! Downtime jumps back into Dog's guard.
Downtime must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dog escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Downtime gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Downtime wants to control from the top but Dog keeps moving.

Dog has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Downtime is working away from the top position though.
Dog tries to roll over but Downtime keeps him under control.
Downtime is just content to waste time from the top position. Dog takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Dog not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Downtime is working for a kimura but Dog is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dog tries to roll over but Downtime keeps him under control.
Dog is working hard here to advance position.
Dog wants to control but Downtime is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Dog is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Downtime is aware though and is defending well.

Downtime postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Downtime gets to his feet - Dog follows without any prompting.
Downtime thows a body shot but no joy.
Dog throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Downtime's waist but Downtime gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dog off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alpha Dog. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Downtime moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Nice sprawl there from Downtime as Dog shoots in.
Dog changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Downtime tries to avoid it but Dog manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Downtime to the ground. Downtime escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nycky Downtime is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dog shoots in but Downtime avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Downtime fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Dog checks it well.
Downtime takes a swing at Dog's ribcage but misses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dog is defended easily by Downtime.
Downtime misses with a two punch combination.

Dog shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Downtime napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dog swings around for an armbar but Downtime sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Dog's guard.
Downtime has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dog is proving hard to escape from.
Dog managing to control the position.

Downtime avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Downtime accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Downtime postures up.
Dog has momentary wrist control but Downtime slips an elbow through the middle.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dog seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Downtime sitting in guard here, content to control.
Downtime trying to control but Dog is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alpha Dog will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Downtime throws the left hand but Dog avoids the punch easily.

Dog clinches.
Downtime stalling in the clinch but Dog improves position.
Downtime tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Dog avoids it.
Downtime tries to land knees in the clinch but Dog avoids the damage to the body.
Downtime tries to throw a body punch but Dog avoids it by throwing Downtime back against the cage.
Downtime is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Dog managing to block the knees to the body from Downtime.
Downtime using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Downtime tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Dog blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Dog is trying to drag Downtime to the mat but Downtime just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alpha Dog. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dog will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Dog closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Downtime did well to prevent Dog getting side control.

Dog is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Downtime to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Dog is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Downtime is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Downtime has escaped and now he's on top!

Dog is looking for a triangle but Downtime pushes his legs off easily.
Downtime wanted to stand there but Dog had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Downtime missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Dog will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Downtime passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Downtime has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Dog shoots in for a takedown but Downtime shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Dog uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Downtime.
Dog throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Downtime's waist but Downtime gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dog off to one side.
Dog shoots for a double leg takedown but Downtime sprawls well. He's pushed Dog's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Alpha Dog will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Downtime gets caught flat footed, as Dog shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Dog stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Downtime swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dog works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Dog is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Downtime doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dog.

Dog is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Downtime makes his way to full guard, as Dog worked for a kimura.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Downtime keeping full guard, as Dog tries to pass.
Dog really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Dog drops back, looking for a kneebar! Downtime looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Downtime looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Downtime!

Nycky Downtime has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Dog is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Downtime wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dog keeps working.

Dog gets full guard.
Downtime trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dog wants to sweep but no luck.

Alpha Dog showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dog, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
