PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mickey McGillicutty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rex Tyler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGillicutty kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Kiss My Irish Ass. Tyler has chosen Tomoyasu Hotei: Battle Without Honor or Humanity as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tyler shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. McGillicutty is trying to defend but Tyler finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
McGillicutty tries to roll over but Tyler keeps him under control.
Tyler is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tyler is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McGillicutty doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tyler.

Tyler shoots in looking for a takedown. McGillicutty tries to sprawl out of it but Tyler keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McGillicutty manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

McGillicutty does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Tyler closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

McGillicutty knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tyler on the ground.

Tyler goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now McGillicutty is on top in guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mickey McGillicutty.
