PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dominic Gister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spanch Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dominic Gister!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Spanch Bob!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gister clinches up with Bob and pushes him back against the cage.

Gister successfully pulls guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Bob showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Bob postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Gister knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bob on the ground.
Bob stands and throws Gister's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Gister is looking to reverse the position.
Gister tries to escape but Bob is in control.
A lull in the action here.
Gister is trying to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bob staying calm.
Bob landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Gister is trying to improve his position.
Bob is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Gister's shoulder. That is not cool.
Bob tries to move into full mount but can't pass Gister's legs.

Bob decides to stand back up. Bob steps back and let's Gister get back to his feet.

Bob closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bob moves into full mount!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bob's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gister is trying desperately to improve position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Spanch Bob.
Bob shoots in for a double leg but Gister sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Bob shoots in for a takedown but Gister shows good takedown defense.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gister.
Gister is breathing heavily.
Gister shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Bob fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gister to the ground. Bob is now in Gister's guard.
Bob passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bob thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gister's head.
Bob works his foot free and advances to mount.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gister taking shots to the head.
Bob controlling from the full mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bob postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gister looks a forlorn figure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spanch Bob dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bob tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gister paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Gister closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gister lands in his opponent's guard.
Gister wants to control from the top but Bob keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gister is looking to stand up but Bob won't let him.

Bob pushes Gister off and scrambles back to his feet.
Bob fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bob shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bob stops Gister from getting back to his feet.
Bob has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Bob working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Gister turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Bob off and cradles Gister's limp body as Bob celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Spanch Bob!
