Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ahmed Smajlovic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Michael Reed!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reed tries a head kick but it misses.
Reed stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Reed wants it to stay on the feet.

Smajlovic takes the fight into the clinch.
Smajlovic goes for a takedown in the clinch but Reed prevents it.
Reed gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Smajlovic.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ahmed Smajlovic. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Reed is trying to break free.
Reed is looking to break free of the clinch but Smajlovic has double underhooks.

Smajlovic keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Reed's efforts to push away.
Smajlovic has Reed pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Reed manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Smajlovic has Reed pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Reed manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Reed is pressed up against the cage. Smajlovic has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Reed down to the mat. Reed avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Reed changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Smajlovic drives through and clinches with Reed against the cage.

Reed escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ahmed Smajlovic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smajlovic takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Ahmed Smajlovic has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Reed will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Reed lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Reed has managed to clinch.
Reed is trying to stall.
Reed tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Smajlovic is trying to drag Reed to the mat but Reed just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Reed works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Reed gets through Smajlovic's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Reed is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Smajlovic has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Reed avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Reed misses with an elbow strike.

Smajlovic has hold of one of Reed's legs. Reed is fighting the takedown attempt but Smajlovic gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Smajlovic is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smajlovic accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Smajlovic thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Reed controls Smajlovic momentarily but Smajlovic frees himself.

Smajlovic drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smajlovic jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reed not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Smajlovic won't allow Reed to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smajlovic thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Reed looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smajlovic is one step ahead there.
Reed really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smajlovic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smajlovic drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smajlovic jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Smajlovic is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Reed looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Michael Reed will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Smajlovic shoots in for a takedown but Reed shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Smajlovic swats away the attempt to clinch by Reed.
Smajlovic fails to land the takedown.
Reed lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Reed.
Reed throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Smajlovic takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Horrible takedown by Smajlovic or perhaps it was just good defense by Reed which made him look bad.

Smajlovic looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Reed is fending him off so far but Smajlovic persists. Nope, Reed circles away and we're back to standing.
Reed lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smajlovic shoots in for a double leg but Reed sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Reed fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Smajlovic.

Reed tries to close the distance and clinch but Smajlovic swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smajlovic is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Smajlovic takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Smajlovic stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Reed.
A nice combination there by Reed.
Smajlovic takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Reed throws a right and a left that Smajlovic avoids nicely.
Reed lands a head kick!
Smajlovic gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Reed.
Michael Reed is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Reed tries to clinch up but Smajlovic circles away and keeps his distance.
Reed lands with a nice body punch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Reed throws a head kick that Smajlovic semi-blocks.
Reed tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Reed lands a leg kick that knocks Smajlovic off balance momentarily.
Ahmed Smajlovic is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Smajlovic takes a head kick and keeps coming.


Smajlovic is rocked!
Reed Rushes Smajlovic and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Smajlovic is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Reed Piles on the pressure and Smajlovic crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
