The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leca shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Faber but Faber pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Faber keeps the fight on the outside.
Leca tries for a takedown but Faber sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Leca tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Faber counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Leca is not content to let Faber control the position.
Faber content to control rather than advance.
Leca flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Faber is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Faber seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Leca for as long as he can get away with.
Faber prevents Leca from standing back up.
Leca wants to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Faber shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Leca is trying to defend but Faber finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
