The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Syah Pernong moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Jory Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Syah Pernong shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diaz as he avoids it easily.
Diaz lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Syah Pernong dives in and grabs Diaz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Diaz pushes down on Syah Pernong's head and hops out.
Diaz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Diaz wants it to stay on the feet.
Jory Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edward Syah Pernong.
Diaz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Diaz slaps away a takedown attempt from Syah Pernong, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Syah Pernong closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Diaz did well to prevent Syah Pernong getting side control.
