The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mongtong circles away from the clinch attempt
and Mongtong makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Woods with a lazy takedown attempt
and Mongtong counters with a head kick.
Woods moves to clinch but Mongtong breaks away
letting Mongtong counter with a right hand.

It looks like Jack Woods has been cut.
Mongtong throws a low kick but Woods moves out of range easily.
Woods misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Woods shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mongtong as he avoids it easily.
Wong Mongtong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Woods.
Woods darts in trying to clinch
and Mongtong counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Mongtong thows a leg kick but Woods checks it

and Woods counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Woods drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mongtong dives on top into guard.
Woods bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mongtong's guard.
Woods trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Woods looking to sit in guard and control but Mongtong gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Woods has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mongtong can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Woods has control of Mongtong's left arm, preventing Mongtong from doing any damage.

Mongtong will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Woods closes the distance and clinches up with Mongtong, looking for a takedown. Woods pushes Mongtong against the cage but Mongtong circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A bone on bone clash there as Woods blocks the leg kick.
Woods fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Mongtong lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Mongtong swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Woods shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Woods prevents Mongtong from getting back to his feet.
Woods sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mongtong's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Woods wants to free his trapped foot but Mongtong is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Woods trying to mount his opponent but Mongtong defends it.
