Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Magnus Van Der Veer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Connors (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Magnus Van Der Veer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Daniel Connors!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Der Veer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Connors showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Van Der Veer.
Van Der Veer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Horrible takedown by Connors or perhaps it was just good defense by Van Der Veer which made him look bad.
Van Der Veer tries to clinch up but Connors circles away and keeps his distance.

Van Der Veer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Poor strikes thrown by Van Der Veer there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Connors keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Van Der Veer tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Van Der Veer trying to control but Connors is having none of it.
Connors tries to hold on but Van Der Veer pushes him away.
Connors is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Connors is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Connors is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Van Der Veer can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Connors is looking to escape.

Van Der Veer tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Connors is squirming around, avoiding Van Der Veer's attempts to control the action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Van Der Veer jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Connors is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Connors and Van Der Veer has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Connors sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Van Der Veer wants to take a breather but Connors is having none of it.
Connors keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Connors manages to get to full guard.
Connors looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Connors has a closed guard, preventing Van Der Veer from standing up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Connors pulls Van Der Veer in to control the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Connors is on top in guard.
Van Der Veer is looking to stand up but Connors isn't so interested in that idea.
Van Der Veer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Connors is one step ahead there.
Van Der Veer trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Connors content to stall in guard here.
Connors tries to free his leg and advance position but Van Der Veer is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Magnus Van Der Veer dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Van Der Veer gets a double leg takedown into Connors's guard.
Van Der Veer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Connors pulls Van Der Veer in close to prevent any damage.
Connors is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Connors is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Connors is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Van Der Veer is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Daniel Connors!
A relieved looking Daniel Connors thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
