PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mak Mokowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Penna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mak Mokowski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Penna!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mokowski pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Penna drives through with a takedown into Mokowski's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Penna looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Mokowski will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mokowski is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Penna is aware though and is defending well.
Penna wants to pass the guard but Mokowski is keeping the position.

Penna decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mokowski, up you get!
Penna should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Some wild striking there from Mokowski.
Penna misses with a head kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Penna tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Mokowski manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mokowski lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Mokowski forces Penna back against the cage and clinches.

Mokowski manages to pull guard.
Mokowski looking for a sweep. Not yet Mokowski, not yet.
Penna won't allow Mokowski to get back to his feet.
Mokowski is breathing heavily.
Penna looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Penna stands up and waves to Mokowski to follow him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Penna keeps the fight on the outside.

Penna closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Penna throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Penna passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Mokowski!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Penna cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Penna pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Penna looking to finish Mokowski with some ground and pound. This is bad for Mokowski!
Penna content just to control the position here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mokowski's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Penna dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Penna tries to clinch but Mokowski moves out of range.
Mokowski tries to clinch up but Penna circles away and keeps his distance.

Penna feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Penna throws a big right hand that misses.
Penna tries to free his leg and advance position but Mokowski is retaining full guard.

Penna drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Penna jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mokowski working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Penna.
Penna wants to control from the top but Mokowski keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mokowski wants to stand up but Penna is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Penna engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Penna lands a couple of elbows.
Penna pushes down on Mokowski's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Penna stops Mokowski from getting back to his feet.

Penna is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Mokowski is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tony Penna!
