Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Boris Pavlov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randon Rett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Boris Pavlov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Randon Rett!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pavlov cracks Rett with an open hand slap.
Rett doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Pavlov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rett's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rett avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Pavlov with a nice head shot there.
Rett controlling Pavlov's posture.
Rett trying to control the position.

Rett is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pavlov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rett on the ground.

Rett has his foot on Pavlov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pavlov works his way back into a safe position though.

Rett is pulling down on Pavlov's head. It's preventing any offense from Pavlov, at least for the moment.

Rett manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Pavlov really wants to buck Rett off and get back to his feet.

Pavlov wants to try and get back to his feet.
Pavlov trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rett sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Rett unloads with some shots from mount but Pavlov bucks and avoids them well.
Rett working the ground and pound effectively.
Rett postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Pavlov looks a forlorn figure.

Rett is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pavlov can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rett cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Rett thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rett throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Rett breaks from Pavlov's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Rett landing strikes from the mount and Pavlov is in trouble!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rett is landing with some decent strikes but Pavlov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Pavlov is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Rett misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Rett lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Pavlov hang on?
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Randon Rett dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Pavlov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rett manages to avoid it.
Pavlov loads up on a big right hand but Rett slips the punch.
Rett dives in and grabs Pavlov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pavlov pushes down on Rett's head and hops out.
Pavlov stuffs the takedown.
Rett changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pavlov tries to avoid it but Rett manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pavlov to the ground. Pavlov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Boris Pavlov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randon Rett.
Pavlov shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Rett avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Sloppy strikes from Pavlov. Those never looked like landing.
Rett misses with a takedown attempt
and Pavlov counters with a three punch combo that has Rett backing up. Rett nods at Pavlov to acknowledge the strikes.

Pavlov misses with a hook.
Pavlov looks to score with a jab to the body but Rett is just out of range.
Pavlov connects with a high kick.
Rett misses with a double jab.
Pavlov throws a jab when Rett was well out of range.
Rett misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pavlov lands with a kick to the temple. Rett shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Pavlov shoots in and bounces Rett off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Rett might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pavlov kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Rett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pavlov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rett controls Pavlov momentarily but Pavlov frees himself.

Pavlov throws a big elbow that misses.
Pavlov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rett is trying to keep Pavlov in close.

Rett looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Pavlov tries to stand but Rett is controlling from the bottom.
Pavlov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Pavlov is fighting to break Rett's control of his arms but Rett is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Rett is looking for a triangle but Pavlov pushes his legs off easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rett is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Boris Pavlov will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Rett gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Pavlov counters with a left to the body.
Pavlov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Horrible takedown by Rett or perhaps it was just good defense by Pavlov which made him look bad.

and Pavlov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Pavlov misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rett.

Pavlov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rett tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Pavlov is in Rett's guard.

Pavlov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rett is proving hard to escape from.
Pavlov throws a strike but Rett rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Rett is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Rett works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Pavlov has one foot on Rett's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Rett shoots in and drives through. Pavlov sprawls well.
Boris Pavlov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randon Rett.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Boris Pavlov.
I think Pavlov has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
