PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Baki Grappler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Ing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grappler comes into the arena with Let the bodies hit the floor blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Baki Grappler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Ing!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Grappler.
Grappler avoids a kick to the body.
Grappler fails with the takedown.
Ing looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Ing fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Grappler.
Ing scores with a leg kick.
Grappler takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Grappler is breathing heavily.
Ing misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Grappler takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Grappler sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Ing tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Ing buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Baki Grappler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Grappler tries to clinch but Ing moves out of range.

Grappler doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ing makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Grappler really felt that one!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Baki Grappler. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A thudding body kick lands there by Ing!
Ing lands with a kick to the ribs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
An inside leg kick lands from Ing.

Grappler closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Grappler throws an elbow but Ing slips to the side and avoids it well.
Grappler throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Ing works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Grappler is thwarting Ing's attempts to control the position.
Grappler looks to land a strike but Ing avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Ing wants to sweep here but Grappler controlling him for the moment.
Grappler prevents Ing from getting back to his feet.
Grappler connects with a couple of short punches.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Grappler's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Ing is trying to keep Grappler in close.
Grappler lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grappler pushes down on Ing's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Grappler tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ing knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ing keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Grappler not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Ing trying to control from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Grappler takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Ing gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ing avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Ing is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Grappler trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Grappler scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Grappler throws a strike but Ing rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Grappler wants to sweep but no luck.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Ing wants to clinch.
Grappler avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Grappler misses with a takedown attempt
and Ing counters with a slapping leg kick.
Grappler fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Grappler with a poor takedown
and Ing counters with a nice body kick.
Grappler fails with a takedown attempt.
Ing dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Grappler. That did some damage!

Grappler closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Grappler lands in his opponent's guard.
Grappler lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Grappler wants to pass the guard but Ing is keeping the position.
Ing trying to keep a closed guard but Grappler is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Ing dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Grappler gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ing counters with a solid body kick.

Grappler fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ing sprawls well initially but Grappler persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Grappler lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Grappler drops an elbow to the side of Ing's head.
Grappler looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ing with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Grappler is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Grappler lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Grappler throws a strike but Ing avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Grappler postures up.
Grappler in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ing looking for a sweep. Not yet Ing, not yet.
Grappler throws a strike but Ing rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Grappler looking for a guillotine here but Ing defends easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ing trying to control but Grappler is working from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Grappler is on top in guard.
Grappler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ing swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Grappler postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Grappler tries to free his leg and advance position but Ing is retaining full guard.
Grappler cracks Ing with a solid left hand.
Ing has momentary wrist control but Grappler slips an elbow through the middle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ing trying to keep a closed guard but Grappler is proving a slippery customer.
Ing utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Grappler postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Grappler is looking to advance position but Ing won't allow it.
Grappler looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Grappler connects with a nice short shot to Ing's temple.
Grappler seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Ing tries to kick Grappler off but Grappler keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Ing gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Grappler shoots in and drives through. Ing sprawls well.
Ing stuffs the takedown attempt from Grappler. Grappler gets slowly back to his feet.
Grappler is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Grappler doesn't manage to clinch there - Ing circles away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Grappler bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Ing wants to get back to his feet.

Grappler works over Ing with some ground and pound from guard.

Ing is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Grappler working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ing's head.

Baki Grappler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ing bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Grappler's guard.

Grappler tries to roll over but Ing keeps him under control.
Grappler is refusing to be controlled, as Ing sits in half guard.

Ing blocks the strikes from Grappler.
Grappler wants to improve his position but Ing is controlling well.
Ing is looking to take a break and control but Grappler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Grappler not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Grappler stops Ing from getting back to his feet.
Ing moves into full guard.
Grappler postures up and lands a big shot to Ing's brow.
Grappler lands a couple of elbows.
Ing looking to hit a scissor sweep but Grappler is one step ahead there.
Grappler lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Ing is controlling Grappler's trapped leg to prevent Grappler from advancing to side control.

Ing is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Grappler's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Grappler's back!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Even with his hooks in, Ing manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Ing tries to keep control of the position but Grappler is staying busy.
Grappler tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Ing prevents Grappler from getting the reversal.

Ing working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Grappler tries to reverse the position but Ing maintains control.
Ing wants to control the pace but Grappler is squirming around nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
Baki Grappler showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Grappler has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
