The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stokes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Stokes gets a double leg takedown into Sanchez's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tom Stokes was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Sanchez throws a leg kick but Stokes checks it.

Sanchez looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Stokes fails to pull guard.
Stokes effectively controlling the action here.
Sanchez tries to break the clinch but Stokes is controlling the position.
Stokes misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sanchez.

We're going to have a standup here because David Sanchez wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Sanchez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stokes.

Stokes closes the distance and clinches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stokes is working for takedown but Sanchez is calmly controlling the position for now.

Stokes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sanchez scores with a body shot.

Stokes rushes Sanchez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Stokes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Stokes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Sanchez can't escape the position.
Stokes throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Stokes thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Sanchez tries to hold on but Stokes pushes him away.
Sanchez is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stokes throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Sanchez because Stokes loaded up on that one.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sanchez tries to hold on but Stokes pushes him away.

Stokes wants to finish this one by submission but Sanchez is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Stokes.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sanchez thuds his right hand into Stokes's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Sanchez gets tackled into the cage by Stokes. Stokes maintains the clinch.
Stokes misses with a short punch on the inside.

Stokes jumps guard but Sanchez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Sanchez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stokes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Stokes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sanchez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Stokes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanchez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nice takedown defense from Sanchez. No joy for Stokes on that attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sanchez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Stokes drops back looking for a leg! Sanchez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sanchez manages to kick Stokes off! Stokes jumps back into Sanchez's guard.

Sanchez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sanchez can't keep his opponent in guard - Stokes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Stokes throws the kick towards the body but Sanchez avoids it.

Stokes closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sanchez's guard.
Stokes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sanchez is trying to control the position but Stokes postures up.

Stokes jumps guard but Sanchez stands there with Stokes around his waist. Stokes gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stokes tightens his grip and picks Sanchez up, before dumping him to the ground. Sanchez manages to land in guard.
David Sanchez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tom Stokes is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
