Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Douglass Devine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and ross peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). peters has chosen one step closer as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Devine pushes peters away with a front kick.

Devine bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
peters takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
peters regains half guard.
Devine trying to control from half guard but peters is working away.
peters wants to improve his position but Devine is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Devine closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Devine lands in his opponent's guard.

Devine throws and elbow that misses. peters uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Devine's guard. Nice move by peters!

Devine has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but peters can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
peters has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

peters should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Devine is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, peters has escaped the position, nice work there.

Devine is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. peters knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Devine in side control lands a decent elbow.

peters tries to improve position but can't.
peters seems to have recovered his senses.
Devine tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
peters manages to get back to half guard.
Devine will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Devine seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
peters is pressing down on Devine's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

peters controls Devine momentarily but Devine frees himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
peters manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
peters postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Devine looks a forlorn figure.

peters is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Devine can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Devine is desperately trying to improve his position but peters has a good base and remains in mount.
Oh Devine is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Devine wants to hold on but peters pushes him away.
