Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Armin Merkel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Samson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merkel comes to the cage accompanied by War Is My Destiny. The crowd seem to be enjoying Samson's choice of entrance music: The Venture Brothers Opening Theme. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samson takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Samson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Merkel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Samson was well out of range. Poor timing from Merkel.

Merkel throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Samson on the side of the head.

Samson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Merkel is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Samson.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Armin Merkel.
