Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Felix Slughterdog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Felix Slughterdog could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Damian Drake's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Felix Slughterdog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Damian Drake!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slughterdog shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Drake but Drake pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Felix Slughterdog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Drake has managed to clinch.

Slughterdog is fighting off a takedown attempt but Drake is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Slughterdog to the mat. Slughterdog regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Slughterdog throws his legs up looking for a submission but Drake uses it to pass to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Drake decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Drake fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Slughterdog to the ground. Drake is now in Slughterdog's guard.

Drake drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Drake jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Drake stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Slughterdog swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Drake connects with a couple of short punches.
Drake slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Damian Drake hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Slughterdog wants to clinch.
Slughterdog shoots for a takedown but Drake saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

so Drake counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Drake decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Slughterdog moves to clinch but Drake breaks away

and Drake counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Slughterdog is breathing heavily.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Drake connects with a nice short shot to Slughterdog's temple.

Drake is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Let's hope that Drake has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Drake stands up over Slughterdog, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

It looks like Drake might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Damian Drake has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Slughterdog gets caught napping as Drake dives in and scores a takedown. Slughterdog manages to retain guard.

Drake passes into half guard.
Drake has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Drake shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Slughterdog is trying to defend but Drake finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Drake takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Drake looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Drake wants to work for an arm triangle but Slughterdog is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Drake escapes and gets back to his feet.
Drake misses with a head kick.
Slughterdog tries to clinch there but Drake circles away.
Drake changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Slughterdog tries to avoid it but Drake manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Slughterdog to the ground. Slughterdog escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Drake swats away the attempt to clinch by Slughterdog.

Drake has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Drake tries for a takedown. No joy.
Slughterdog is pressed up against the cage. Drake has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Slughterdog down to the mat. Slughterdog avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Felix Slughterdog has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Drake.

Damian Drake showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Slughterdog has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Drake should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Slughterdog has tightened it up now! Drake should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
