Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Peter Venkman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dre Benjamin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Venkman clinches.

Venkman has picked Benjamin up - he's going for a ride! Venkman dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Venkman frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Benjamin wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Benjamin trying to control the position but Venkman manages to sink in the hooks.

Benjamin is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Venkman gets his way!
Benjamin rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Venkman is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Benjamin defends it well.

Venkman is looking to take a break and control but Benjamin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Benjamin regains full guard. Nicely done.

Benjamin is looking for a triangle but Venkman pushes his legs off easily.

Venkman stands and throws Benjamin's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Venkman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Benjamin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Benjamin manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Venkman is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Benjamin has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Venkman has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Benjamin taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Venkman doesn't care though - he's delighted!
