Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ari Brookins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grant Ferguson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ari Brookins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Grant Ferguson !
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brookins closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ferguson 's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Brookins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ferguson wants to stand and escape but Brookins is having none of it.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Ferguson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Brookins manages to pass to side control.
Brookins prevents Ferguson from standing back up.
Brookins trying to control the pace.
Brookins is looking to advance position but Ferguson won't allow it.

Ferguson is trying to stand.
Still in half guard, Brookins seems content to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ari Brookins wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Ferguson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Ari Brookins has been cut.
Brookins takes one to the side of the head.
Brookins ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ferguson moves away.
Grant Ferguson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ferguson fails with a takedown attempt.
Brookins uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ferguson .

Brookins bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Brookins tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Brookins has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Ferguson prevents Brookins from moving into mount.
Ferguson tries to escape but Brookins is in control.

Brookins creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ferguson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Brookins wants to control but Ferguson is keeping him busy.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Ferguson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Brookins tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Brookins has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Brookins is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ferguson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Ferguson pushes Brookins away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Brookins gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Brookins is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ferguson 's shoulder. That is not cool.

Brookins is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ferguson has escaped the position, nice work there.
Brookins is chipping away with strikes.
Brookins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ferguson keeps working.
Brookins scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Ferguson to see if he's OK.

Ferguson wants to get back to his feet but Brookins drags him back down.

Brookins working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Brookins is breathing heavily.
Brookins prevents Ferguson from escaping the position.
Brookins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ferguson keeps working.

Ferguson bucks up and tries to throw Brookins off but instead Brookins has got his back!

I would not like to be Ferguson right now.

Sloppy strikes from Ferguson . Those never looked like landing.
A nice combination there by Ferguson .
Brookins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ferguson connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Brookins tumbling to the canvas! Ferguson pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Brookins was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Grant Ferguson !
