The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez keeps the fight on the outside.
Goone tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Alvarez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Goone closes the distance and clinches.
Alvarez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Goone pulls his leg out and moves away.

Alvarez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Alvarez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Goone is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Alvarez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Goone takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Alvarez's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Paulo Alvarez decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
