Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, David Long!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Jerry Ferro!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Long scores with a jab to the jaw.
A looping hook to the body misses from Long. Ferro does a little dance to reset his feet.
David Long seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Long misses with a straight left.
Ferro fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Long misses with a wild body shot.
Long lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Long lunges at Ferro with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Ferro's hand.
Long plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

and Long counters with a straight right hand.
A swing and a miss from Long.

Long throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ferro dips to his left and cracks Long with an uppercut!
A nice leg kick lands there from Long.
Long scores with a nice head shot.
Ferro just misses with a punch to the body.
Long lunges at Ferro with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Ferro's hand.
Long lands a body shot.
Long stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Long wants it to stay on the feet.
David Long has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerry Ferro.

Long throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ferro on the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Long stuffs the takedown attempt from Ferro. Ferro gets slowly back to his feet.

Long tests Ferro's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Long lands with a straight right. Ferro didn't see that one coming.
David Long is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Long moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
A good leg kick by Long.
Long lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Ferro tries to score a power double leg takedown but Long sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ferro somewhat.
Long lands a slapping body shot.

Long leaves Ferro with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Long fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ferro.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Long thuds his right hand into Ferro's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Long fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ferro manages to avoid it.
Long lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A head kick misses from Long.
Ferro fails to land the takedown.

Ferro fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Long misses with a double jab.
Long connects with a body shot.
Horrible takedown by Ferro or perhaps it was just good defense by Long which made him look bad.
A swing and a miss from Long.
Long throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ferro counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Long thinking.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
Long throws a hook but Ferro blocks it.
Ferro is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Ferro drops his hands momentarily and Long takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Ferro shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Long pinned against the cage. Long gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Long buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Long showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ferro.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Long scores with a jab to the head.
A right-left combo lands from Long.
Ferro shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Long sprawls well. Long wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ferro gets slowly back to his feet.
Long stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.


Ferro is rocked!
Long is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Long lands with a kick to the ribs.
Ferro takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.
Long tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ferro was well out of range. Poor timing from Long.
Ferro is trying desperately to land a takedown but Long is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Ferro.
Ferro slips a straight right by Long.
Long throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ferro on the side of the head.
Ferro is still on wobbly legs! Can Long finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ferro on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Long. Long obviously looking to wear him down.
Ferro doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Long counters with a stiff right hand.
Long misses with a body shot.
Ferro seems to have recovered his senses.
Long throws a shot to the body.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Ferro fails with a takedown attempt.
Long with a hook.
Ferro walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Long lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Ferro gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Ferro walks straight into a right hand from Long - that's dropped him! Long jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Ferro from any more punishment! Ferro complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 9:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). David Long!
An out of breath David Long thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
