PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yule Brennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Plesniak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brennan comes to the cage accompanied by killing in the name of. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Plesniak!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Plesniak is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Plesniak shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Brennan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Plesniak defends it easily.
Plesniak scoring with some ground and pound.
Plesniak is looking to work some ground and pound but Brennan has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brennan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Plesniak connects with a couple of short punches.

Brennan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Plesniak doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Plesniak manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Plesniak might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Brennan throws his legs up looking for a submission but Plesniak uses it to pass to side control.
Brennan is breathing heavily.

Plesniak looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Plesniak trying to control the action but Brennan is working from the bottom.
Plesniak really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brennan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Plesniak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brennan keeps working.
Brennan manages to work his way to half guard, despite Plesniak's best efforts.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Plesniak looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brennan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Brennan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Plesniak.
Plesniak tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brennan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Plesniak somewhat.

Plesniak misses with a two punch combination.
Plesniak closes the distance and clinches up with Brennan, looking for a takedown. Plesniak pushes Brennan against the cage but Brennan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Plesniak on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Brennan. Brennan obviously looking to wear him down.
Plesniak looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brennan is fending him off so far but Plesniak persists. Nope, Brennan circles away and we're back to standing.
Yule Brennan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Plesniak.

Plesniak drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Brennan gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Brennan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Brennan feints a jab promting Plesniak to slip. Brennan then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Plesniak slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

and Brennan counters with a series of strikes. Plesniak will be more careful next time no doubt.
Plesniak tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Brennan was well out of range. Poor timing from Plesniak.

Plesniak is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Plesniak can do anything to dispel that myth.

Robert Plesniak is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Plesniak takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
