And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabricio Rodrigues!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigues stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rodrigues wants it to stay on the feet.
Pinto avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rodrigues throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rodrigues cracks Pinto with a good jab.
Pinto avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pinto slips under a jab from Rodrigues.
Pinto misses with a wild body shot.
Pinto shoots in but Rodrigues avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Pinto pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Pinto takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Jose Pinto has been cut.
Pinto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rodrigues but Rodrigues pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Pinto. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pinto is defended easily by Rodrigues.

Pinto closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pinto has Rodrigues pressed against the cage, preventing Rodrigues from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Pinto tightens his grip and picks Rodrigues up, before dumping him to the ground. Rodrigues manages to land in guard.
Pinto wants to control from the top but Rodrigues keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rodrigues trying to hold on to Pinto's head to control him but Pinto postures up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rodrigues wants to get back to his feet.

Pinto seems to be working for a kimura but Rodrigues defends the submission attempt.
Pinto has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pinto wants to control but Rodrigues is keeping him busy.

Pinto is working for a submission of some sort.
Rodrigues is looking to escape.
Rodrigues has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pinto is working away from the top position though.
Rodrigues really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pinto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pinto is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rodrigues defends it well.

Rodrigues wants to control but Pinto is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Rodrigues tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Pinto manages to move to mount!
Rodrigues can't escape the position.
Rodrigues tries to lock up and control but Pinto gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Rodrigues tries to buck Pinto off but he can't manage it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rodrigues can do anything to dispel that myth.

Pinto is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Pinto!
