Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Steve Stevenson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Laarj Dong!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevenson is looking to clinch but Dong is avoiding it.

Dong gets a takedown into half guard.
Dong is keen to just control but Stevenson is a slippery customer.

Dong is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dong trying to mount his opponent but Stevenson defends it.

Dong passes to full mount!
Stevenson sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Dong is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Stevenson still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Stevenson has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
You can see the frustration on Dong's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Stevenson has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Dong wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Stevenson is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Dong is really stuck here.
Stevenson tries to keep control of the position but Dong is staying busy.

Stevenson is trying to stick to Dong's back but Dong is turning into Stevenson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Stevenson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Dong.
Dong pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stevenson is keeping the position for now.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dong is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Stevenson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Stevenson has escaped and now he's on top!
Stevenson wants to control from the top but Dong keeps moving.

Dong working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stevenson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stevenson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Stevenson is tying to control. Dong wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Dong is looking to control Stevenson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dong avoid being mounted?
Dong wants to get back to full guard.
Stevenson looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Dong makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dong.

Dong working for a triangle but Stevenson defends it easily.
Dong looking for a sweep. Not yet Dong, not yet.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Dong showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Stevenson.
Nice takedown defense from Stevenson. No joy for Dong on that attempt.
Stevenson tries to clinch up but Dong circles away and keeps his distance.

Dong changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stevenson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Dong swings around for an armbar but Stevenson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Dong's guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dong can't escape the position.

Dong tries to control Stevenson's body but Stevenson pushes him off. Dong squirms to his side and now Stevenson has his back!

Dong trying to control the action but Stevenson just sinks the hooks in.

Stevenson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dong is one step ahead there.
Dong stands and throws Stevenson's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dong wants to control but Stevenson is keeping him busy.
Dong gets to mount! Stevenson was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Stevenson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Dong throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
A nice elbow there by Dong.
Dong wants to control the pace but Stevenson is squirming around nicely.

Dong is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Stevenson is surviving well by controlling Dong's body position as best he can.

Dong moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Stevenson has worked his arm free - good work by Stevenson!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The strikes coming from Dong are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Stevenson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Dong is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Stevenson has escaped the position, nice work there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Dong misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Dong is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Stevenson is trying to escape and Dong transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Stevenson is forced to tap! Nice work there by Dong! Very nice indeed!
