Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Julius Kordel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roderick Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julius Kordel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roderick Edwards!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edwards misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kordel looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kordel misses with a looping right.
Edwards fails to land the takedown.

Edwards drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kordel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Edwards on the ground.
Edwards trying to control the position from guard on top but Kordel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kordel wants to stand and escape but Edwards is having none of it.
Edwards trying to control but Kordel is working from the bottom.
Kordel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kordel can't keep his opponent in guard - Edwards advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Edwards wants to pass to mount but Kordel is defending the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kordel tries to kick Edwards off but Edwards keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Kordel is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Edwards scores with a couple of nice shots.
Edwards trying to control from half guard but Kordel is working away.

Kordel manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Edwards circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kordel tries to clinch but Edwards is having none of it.
Edwards will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Julius Kordel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roderick Edwards.

Edwards fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kordel sprawls well initially but Edwards persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Edwards trying to pass the guard but Kordel defending well.
Kordel wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Edwards is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Kordel has managed to free his arm - good work.
Edwards looks gassed!
Kordel looks like he's trying to stand up.
Edwards looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Kordel wants to get back to his feet.
Kordel is refusing to be controlled, as Edwards sits in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Edwards shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Edwards tries to free his leg and advance position but Kordel is retaining full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Edwards controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Edwards drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Edwards jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Edwards thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Edwards drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kordel looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kordel looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kordel!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kordel stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Edwards decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Edwards passes the guard and advances to mount!

Edwards with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
You get the feeling that Kordel really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Edwards cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Edwards lands a heavy elbow.
Edwards postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kordel looks a forlorn figure.


Kordel is rocked!
Kordel's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Edwards lands a nice shot to the head.
Oh Kordel is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Edwards postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Kordel in real trouble here! The ref calls for Kordel to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roderick Edwards!
