Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Bader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). West comes to the cage accompanied by I'm so sick-Flyleaf. Ryan Bader has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Joe West's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Bader!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bader misses with a double jab.
West falls off balance throwing a combination

and Bader counters with a shoot takedown. West fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
West is trying to keep Bader in close.
Bader throwing strikes from guard but West blocks nicely.
Bader trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Bader tries to free his leg and advance position but West is retaining full guard.
Bader throws a big right hand that misses.
West is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
West goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
West feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Bader's calf.
Bader fails with a takedown attempt.
Nice sprawl there from West as Bader shoots in.
Bader takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
West throws a one two combo.
West circles away from the clinch attempt.

West throws a nice inside leg kick.

Bader looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? West is fending him off so far but Bader persists. Nope, West circles away and we're back to standing.
Joe West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Bader.
Bader looks gassed!
West throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

West closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
West lands an elbow.
West wants to control but Bader is keeping him busy.
West scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Bader to see if he's OK.
West gets to mount! Bader was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
West breaks from Bader's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Bader is looking to improve his position but West isn't that keen on the idea.
West scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Bader?

BOOM! West connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Bader is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bader is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
West has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

West has control of Bader's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Bader regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bader takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe West dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Bader walks into a straight right hand from West.
A decent looking body kick lands there for West.
West misses with a takedown attempt

and Bader holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
West is leaning against Bader and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
West lands a hook that snaps the head of Bader backwards.
Bader drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
West is pressed up against the cage. Bader has hold of a leg and is looking to drag West down to the mat. West avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

West drives through and clinches with Bader against the cage.
Bader pushes West back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
West tries for a takedown. No joy.
West stops a takedown attempt from Bader.
Joe West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Bader.

West breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Joe West is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
West scores with a jab. Bader acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
West throws a body punch but Bader moves out of range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bader showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from West.

Bader shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and West counters with a good low kick that Bader was not able to check.
Bader looks to clinch
and West counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bader misses with a combination
and West counters with a one-two to the body.

West gets caught flat footed, as Bader shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Bader pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. West is keeping the position for now.

West tries to strike from the bottom.
Bader throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Bader wants to pass the guard but West is keeping the position.
Bader is looking to advance position but West has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

West with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Bader sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

West looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bader lands a couple of sideways elbows.
West working over Bader with some ground and pound. Bader looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

West postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Bader to stand up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
West connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
West feints and then cracks Bader's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bader down.
West lets loose with a powerful body kick. Bader will feel that in the morning.
A nice combination there by West.


Bader is rocked!
West fails to land the takedown.
West catches Bader with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Bader is still on wobbly legs! Can West finish him?

Bader scores a takedown into full mount!
Bader seems to have recovered his senses.
Bader scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish West?


West is rocked!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bader looking to secure an arm triangle but West defends it well.
Oh West is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bader cracks West with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ryan Bader!
