Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between JR Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cornwall Masterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Summers might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Before I Forgot. JR Summers has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, JR Summers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cornwall Masterson!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Summers with a poor takedown
and Masterson counters with a stiff right hand.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Summers is defended easily by Masterson.
Summers's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Masterson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Summers scrambles back to his feet.
Summers shoots in and drives through. Masterson sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for JR Summers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Summers walks into a jab.
Summers misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Summers shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Masterson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Masterson lands a nice looking kick to the body. Summers takes a step back to recover.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Summers shoots in for a double leg but Masterson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Masterson tries to kick Summers off but Summers keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Summers looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Masterson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Masterson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Masterson leaves Summers with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Masterson counters with a thumping low kick.

and Masterson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Masterson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Summers is looking to clinch but Masterson is avoiding it.
Summers fails with the takedown.
Summers shoots and misses
and Masterson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
A nice combination there by Masterson.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Summers.
Masterson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Summers tries to score a power double leg takedown but Masterson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Summers somewhat.
Masterson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Summers eats them both and turns towards Masterson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Cornwall Masterson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Summers will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Summers dives in and grabs Masterson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Masterson pushes down on Summers's head and hops out.

Summers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Masterson keeps working.
Summers uses his free foot to push down on Masterson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Masterson.
