The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Canas lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Canas.
Canas lands with an uppercut that bounces Hughes off the cage and back into range.

Hughes is rocked!

Hughes shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Oh Hughes is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Hughes is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Canas defends it well.
Hughes seems to have got his legs back now.
Hughes winds up and cracks Canas with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Hughes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Hughes is looking to work some ground and pound but Canas has wrist control.

Hughes stands up from Canas's guard - Hughes perhaps looking for a knockout.
Hughes fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hughes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jay Canas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Canas lands a nice hook to Hughes's body. Hughes takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Hughes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Canas grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Hughes takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Canas cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

A very excited looking Jay Canas rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
