Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gary Drennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and M J Shain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drennan's entrance music is Illy-oi!. A fine choice. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drennan misses with a wild body shot.
Drennan walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Shain checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Shain lands a nice hook to Drennan's body. Drennan takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Drennan shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Shain bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Drennan misses with a series of wild punches.
Shain tries to score a power double leg takedown but Drennan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Shain somewhat.
Drennan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Shain.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Drennan dodges the punch combination from Shain.
Shain is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Drennan.
Shain's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Shain is trying to control the action in half guard but Drennan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Shain thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Drennan's head.

Shain wants to stand but Drennan has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

M J Shain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

We're going to have a standup here because Gary Drennan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gary Drennan.
I think Shain has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
