PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drew McIntyre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Born (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McIntyre's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Shamans Harvest - Broken Dreams. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McIntyre gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Born to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
McIntyre is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Born stands up from guard. Let's bang!
A combination from McIntyre does no damage.
Born is looking to clinch.
McIntyre's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and McIntyre duly obliges.
McIntyre lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Nice body punch from McIntyre.
Born tries to clinch but McIntyre is having none of it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McIntyre throws a right hand that Born ducks under and follows up with a left that Born also avoids with ease.

Born takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Born moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
McIntyre lands a glancing blow to the side of Born's head.
McIntyre throws a one two combo.
Born fails with the takedown.
No joy there for McIntyre, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Born tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McIntyre lunges at Born with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Born's hand.

McIntyre knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Born on the ground.

McIntyre got a little sloppy there for a moment and Born has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McIntyre has managed to get both his arms back between Born's legs - danger averted.
Born is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Born looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Born is keen to just control but McIntyre is a slippery customer.

McIntyre is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Born jumps into side control!
McIntyre is trying to get back to half guard.
McIntyre wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

McIntyre is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Born has just dragged him back down to the mat.
McIntyre tries to buck Born off but Born is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McIntyre is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Born wants to control but McIntyre is keeping him busy.

Born with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling McIntyre to score with a decent uppercut.

McIntyre comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Born shoots in for a takedown but McIntyre shows good takedown defense.
McIntyre is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Born is breathing heavily.

McIntyre's corner calls for a 1-2. McIntyre obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

McIntyre takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Born takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Born takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Born shoots in but no luck this time.
McIntyre lands a two punch combo.
Born has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Born is rocked!
McIntyre looks to land a combination. Born sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Born is still on wobbly legs! Can McIntyre finish him?
McIntyre drops Born with a straight right hand, right on the button! McIntyre follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

A less than humble Drew McIntyre misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
