Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyler McNutt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Wells (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyler McNutt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cody Wells!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wells with a nice cross.
Wells pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
McNutt looks for a takedown but Wells sprawls well.
McNutt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wells is fending him off so far but McNutt persists. Nope, Wells circles away and we're back to standing.

McNutt gets a takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
McNutt throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Wells is concentrating on defense, preventing McNutt from advancing position.
McNutt wants to free his trapped foot but Wells is holding on for dear life with his legs.
McNutt prevents Wells from improving his position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Wells manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
McNutt wants to control from the top but Wells keeps moving.

Wells looking to hit a scissor sweep but McNutt is one step ahead there.
McNutt slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Wells looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
McNutt is fighting to break Wells's control of his arms but Wells is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tyler McNutt.
Wells keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Wells turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
McNutt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wells tries to avoid it but McNutt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wells to the ground. Wells escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

McNutt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
McNutt drops down looking for an ankle pick but Wells pulls his leg out and moves away.
Wells connects with a single shot there.
McNutt shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wells sprawls well. Wells wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McNutt gets slowly back to his feet.

Wells gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Wells scores with a shoulder strike.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McNutt goes for a takedown attempt but Wells pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
McNutt is breathing heavily.
Wells leaves McNutt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

McNutt misses with a takedown
and Wells makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Wells gets a double leg takedown into McNutt's guard.
Wells won't allow McNutt to get back to his feet.
Wells slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cody Wells was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Donk. Wells catches McNutt right on the button with a cross.
Wells's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Wells duly obliges.
Wells throws the kick towards the body but McNutt avoids it.
A left lands for Wells.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wells throws a series of punches but McNutt moves out of range.
Wells is looking to clinch.

Wells closes the distance and clinches.
Wells is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McNutt pulls him back up using the underhooks.

McNutt looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Wells wants to break the clinch but can't.
Wells makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
McNutt is looking for a takedown.
Wells wants to get back to striking at distance but McNutt won't allow it.
McNutt wants to take the fight to the mat but Wells manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Wells tries to break free but McNutt pushes him back against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wells escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
McNutt takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cody Wells dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


McNutt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wells paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nice takedown defense from Wells. No joy for McNutt on that attempt.
Wells tries a low kick but McNutt avoids it.
Wells shoots in but McNutt avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Wells shoots in but no luck this time.
Cody Wells seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some bone on bone action there as McNutt checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Tyler McNutt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wells clobbers McNutt with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
McNutt shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wells but Wells pushes him off and we're back to square one.
McNutt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wells paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Wells scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
McNutt shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wells as he jumps to the side.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wells moves into full mount! McNutt won't be happy about that!
McNutt on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McNutt tries to get out of the position.
Wells takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wells looking to control but McNutt is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Wells stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
McNutt fails with a takedown attempt.

Wells lands with a cross.
McNutt avoids a punch combination nicely.
McNutt tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Wells manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown by McNutt or perhaps it was just good defense by Wells which made him look bad.
Wells tries to land a front kick but McNutt steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Wells shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McNutt moves in looking to clinch but Wells pushes him off.
Wells closes this distance looking for a takedown but McNutt circles away.
No luck for Wells with that takedown attempt.

McNutt closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wells did well to prevent McNutt getting side control.

McNutt throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
McNutt prevents Wells from standing back up.
McNutt is figuring out what he wants to do next.
McNutt slips a nice elbow through Wells's hands, connecting with Wells's forehead.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McNutt is trying to control the action in half guard but Wells is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Well, if McNutt is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Wells is refusing to be controlled, as McNutt sits in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We're going to have a standup here because Tyler McNutt wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A jab from Wells does it's job there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cody Wells showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



McNutt gets a double leg takedown into Wells's guard.

McNutt stands and steps away. Wells gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
McNutt takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Wells connects with a body shot that sends McNutt's belly button to the back.
Nice uppercut there from Wells.
Good exchange - Wells coming out on top.
McNutt looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
McNutt is looking to clinch.

Wells closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McNutt quickly recovers to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wells seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wells seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Cody Wells wasn't active enough on the ground.

McNutt shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McNutt was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, McNutt cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Wells tries to lock up and control but McNutt gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
McNutt trying to control but Wells is having none of it.
McNutt unloads with some shots from mount but Wells bucks and avoids them well.

McNutt sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Wells is in all sorts of trouble here.
McNutt throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

McNutt is landing with some decent strikes but Wells is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Cody Wells is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
McNutt looking to control but Wells is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
McNutt fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

I think Wells has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
