The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larocque throws a big shot that misses.
Larocque looks to land a combination but Escalante avoids it well.

Larocque goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Escalante ducks under a wild hook from Larocque.
Escalante tries to close the distance and clinch but Larocque swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Larocque swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Escalante throws a head kick that half lands.
Larocque takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Larocque gets tackled into the cage by Escalante. Escalante maintains the clinch.

Escalante connects with a leg kick. Larocque looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Larocque uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Larocque swats away the attempt to clinch by Escalante.
Larocque throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Escalante keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Larocque.
Larocque looks to land a right hand but Escalante moved out of range.
Larocque throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Escalante's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Larocque dives in looking to finish as Escalante flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Larocque's strikes! Larocque is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Escalante's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Escalante was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
