Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ken Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pain stuffs the takedown attempt from Bates. Bates gets slowly back to his feet.
Pain needs to keep his hands up - Bates had a free shot at his head there.
Bates avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pain leaves Bates with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bates bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Pain's head backwards.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pain.

Pain is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bates has escaped the position, nice work there.
Bates is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Pain tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pain has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ground and pound from Pain seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pain lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Pain advances to mount.
Pain lands a nice shot to the head.

Pain is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bates can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bates throwing hammer fists to the chest of Pain. What's that going to do exactly?
Bates is in a horrible position here. Pain smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Pain lands a big elbow.

Bates is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bates is in all sorts of trouble here.
Oh Bates is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Pain cracks Bates with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

A relieved looking Mark Pain thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
