PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brad Hallow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Maglieri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hallow comes to the cage accompanied by Hells Bells - AC/DC. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brad Hallow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Maglieri!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Franklyn Lucas and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hallow throws a series of punches but Maglieri moves out of range.

Maglieri darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Maglieri looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Maglieri is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hallow defends it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hallow is defending against the submission attempts here by Maglieri.
Maglieri wants to advance to full mount but Hallow doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Maglieri trying to move into half guard but instead Hallow has managed to sweep!
Hallow tries to stand but Maglieri is controlling from the bottom.
Hallow trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Maglieri looking for a guillotine here but Hallow defends easily.
Hallow wants to stand but Maglieri has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Hallow decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Maglieri, up you get!
Hallow lands a big uppercut and Maglieri crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Maglieri looks OK.


Maglieri is rocked!


It looks like Chris Maglieri has been cut.
Hallow tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Maglieri is still in real trouble! Can Hallow finish him?

Maglieri looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Hallow pushes past his half guard into mount!

Hallow stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Maglieri seems to have recovered his senses.
Hallow stuffs the takedown attempt from Maglieri. Maglieri gets slowly back to his feet.

Maglieri drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maglieri looks gassed!

Maglieri is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hallow knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Maglieri is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hallow has escaped the position, nice work there.

That was a close round but I would say that Brad Hallow will probably get the nod.

Maglieri fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Oooh a lovely combination from Hallow sends Maglieri down but not out. Hallow dives into side control looking to finish.
Hallow wants to stand but Maglieri has his arm trapped.
Maglieri is looking to regain half guard here but Hallow keeps moving and retains side control.
Hallow trying to control the action but Maglieri is working from the bottom.

Maglieri is trying to improve his position.
Hallow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maglieri keeps working.
Maglieri tries to get back to half guard but can't.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Maglieri is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hallow closes this distance looking for a takedown but Maglieri circles away.
Brad Hallow is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hallow rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Maglieri moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hallow throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Maglieri.
A choreographed right hand from Hallow misses the target.
Maglieri looks for a takedown but Hallow sprawls well.

Maglieri closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Maglieri looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Maglieri is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hallow doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Maglieri.
Hallow tries to kick Maglieri off but Maglieri keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maglieri wants to advance to full mount but Hallow doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Maglieri passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Brad Hallow will probably get the nod.

Horrible takedown by Maglieri or perhaps it was just good defense by Hallow which made him look bad.
Hallow cracks Maglieri with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Maglieri looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Hallow finish him?
Hallow swings for the body but Maglieri moves out of range.
Hallow throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hallow tries to close the distance and clinch up but Maglieri swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Maglieri shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Maglieri slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Maglieri swings around for an armbar but Hallow sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Maglieri's guard.
Maglieri takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hallow advances position into side control!
Maglieri manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Hallow trying to control the pace.
Hallow works his foot free and advances to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Maglieri really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Hallow looking to control but Maglieri is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hallow is looking to stand but Hallow has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Maglieri is trying to escape the mount.
Hallow manages to capitalize on a mistake by Maglieri to take his back!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Maglieri tries to escape the position.
Hallow trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Maglieri is in bad spot here.
Chris Maglieri has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hallow doesn't have the hooks in and Maglieri manages to turn into his guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brad Hallow showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hallow, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
