The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lopez is fending him off so far but Mendez persists. Nope, Lopez circles away and we're back to standing.
Mendez misses with a takedown attempt - Lopez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mendez wants to slow Lopez down by chopping away at his legs.
Mendez lands with a kick to the ribs.
Lopez throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Mendez stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Lopez follows into mount!
Mendez is rocked!
It looks like Leon Mendez has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Mendez is trying to control the position here but Lopez swings around for an armbar and he's got it! This one is all over, courtesy of a slick submission by Lopez!

Juan Lopez really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Steel Penn's Laundry 93% logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
