The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Basher throws a good cross that connects.
James Basher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A nice combination there by Basher.

It looks like Buster Cherry has been cut.
Cherry fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Basher avoids it really well and circles away.
Basher misses with a body shot.

Basher lands a big head kick that sends Cherry tumbling to the mat! Basher takes a step backwards and waves Cherry back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cherry closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Basher quickly recovers to half guard.

Cherry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cherry looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Basher with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Cherry is taking a breather. Basher says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cherry lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Basher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cherry. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Basher pushes Cherry off looking to stand but Cherry dives back in and keeps control.
Cherry winds up and cracks Basher with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Cherry is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Basher is hurt! He's hurt bad - Cherry fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Basher from any more punishment! Congratulations to Cherry! Great finish!

Buster Cherry decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
