The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stratton swats away the attempt to clinch by Chavez.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chavez.
Chavez misses with a looping right.
Chavez takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Stratton uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Chavez.

Stratton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Stratton wants to stand but Chavez is controlling his posture from full guard.
Stratton stops Chavez from standing up.
Stratton advances to half guard.
Chavez is pressing down on Stratton's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stratton content to stall in guard here.

Chavez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stratton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stratton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Stratton gets to his feet. Chavez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Chavez misses with a hook. Stratton ducked under it nicely.
Stratton moves in looking to clinch but Chavez pushes him off.
Chavez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Chavez shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Chavez is breathing heavily.
Stratton works his way to full guard. Good work.

Stratton pushes Chavez off and scrambles back to his feet.

and Stratton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chavez's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stratton slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Stratton is working to tighten is grip on Chavez's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Chavez has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Stratton is really squeezing tight and eventually Chavez passes out! Stratton breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
