The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McHale swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and McHale counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Pynchon has hold of McHale's hands but McHale slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Pynchon is not content to let McHale control the position.
Pynchon keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
McHale not landing any meaningful shots this time.
McHale seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pynchon does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
McHale lands with a punch from half guard.
McHale thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pynchon's head.
Pynchon is refusing to be controlled, as McHale sits in half guard.
Pynchon tries to roll over but McHale keeps him under control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McHale wants to control but Pynchon is keeping him busy.

Pynchon tries to get to full guard but McHale has control of the leg.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Pynchon wants to control but McHale is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Pynchon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McHale. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pynchon can do anything to dispel that myth.
Pynchon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McHale has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McHale thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
McHale working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
McHale slips a nice elbow through Pynchon's hands, connecting with Pynchon's forehead.
Pynchon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McHale is working away from the top position though.
Pynchon is trying to get back to full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McHale looks to land a strike but Pynchon avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Pynchon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pynchon is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pynchon manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Beaumont McHale showed his dominance in that final round.
Well McHale has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
