Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between kizzer D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jani Pekkanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, kizzer D!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jani Pekkanen!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

D gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

D decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Pekkanen doesn't succeed with the takedown

and D counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
D wants to stand but Pekkanen is controlling his posture from full guard.
Pekkanen is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pekkanen has his foot on D's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. D works his way back into a safe position though.
D stopping the sweep attempt from Pekkanen.

D gets to his feet. Pekkanen looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

D looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Pekkanen!

D stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Pekkanen tries for a takedown but D circles away easily

and D counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by D.
D wants to stand but Pekkanen has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Pekkanen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with D. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

D stands and steps away. Pekkanen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
D is breathing heavily.
Pekkanen misses with a double jab

and D counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Pekkanen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

D gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Pekkanen misses with the body kick

and D counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pekkanen's guard now.

D decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Pekkanen wants to clinch

and D counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

D gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

D moves into range and clinches up with Pekkanen.

kizzer D has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jani Pekkanen.
Pekkanen jumps guard but D stands there with Pekkanen around his waist. Pekkanen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
D tries for a takedown but Pekkanen manages to get underhooks.
Pekkanen missing with knees to the body.
Pekkanen has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. D is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Pekkanen tries to break the clinch but D is controlling the position.

Pekkanen breaks the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
D fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

and D counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by D.

D stands up and waves to Pekkanen to follow him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


D shoots and misses

and Pekkanen counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pekkanen.
D prevents the takedown attempt.
Pekkanen is trying to work for a single leg takedown but D pulls him back up using the underhooks.

D gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Pekkanen regains guard.
D postures up.

Pekkanen is looking for a triangle here but D uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

D decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Pekkanen is breathing heavily.
Pekkanen tries to land a body kick

and D holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Pekkanen goes for a takedown in the clinch but D prevents it.
kizzer D has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jani Pekkanen.
D scores with a knee to the head.

Pekkanen jumps guard and drags D to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Pekkanen wants to stand up but D is controlling him.

D would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
D won't allow Pekkanen to sweep him here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

D gets the takedown into side control.

D decides to stand up, so the ref orders Pekkanen to his feet.
D avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pekkanen tries for a takedown but D circles away easily

and D counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Pekkanen!

D stands up from mount. Strange move.

D with a poor takedown

and Pekkanen moves into the clinch.
D stops a takedown attempt from Pekkanen.
Pekkanen tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. D just stands there and leans against the cage.
Pekkanen has D pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. D manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
D goes for a takedown in the clinch but Pekkanen prevents it.
D drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pekkanen pulls his leg out and moves away.

Pekkanen shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pekkanen is figuring out what he wants to do next.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Pekkanen counters with a nice double leg into side control. D won't be happy with that.
D wants to get back to his feet.
Pekkanen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
D trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

D bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

D darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Pekkanen is trying to maintain the position but D is very close to passing his half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

D stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
D shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pekkanen as he avoids it easily.
Jani Pekkanen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pekkanen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Pekkanen controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Pekkanen wants to stand but D has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

D has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pekkanen off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

D looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Pekkanen is trying to push D off with his feet but D grabs hold of one of the legs and drops back looking for a submission! He's cranking on one of Pekkanen's ankles and Pekkanen is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaall over!
